On April 9, we hosted a webinar with Mark Burgess and Cheryl Burgess, co-authors of Amazon best-selling book, The Social Employee. Mark and Cheryl covered why it’s so important for businesses to adopt social business strategies and power their employees to be brand advocates.
In today’s world, there is a ‘new normal’. The world is social which means brands no longer have complete control and the biggest risk for brands is not taking one. Brands need to adopt strategies, which allow them to be more social and closer to their customers. Brands can gain a competitive social power their employees to share their news with their social networks.
One of central themes of the webinar and also a great way companies to get started is through leadership. When you look at successful social businesses and employee Advocate Marketing programs, one of the key things they have in common is the support of leadership and executives. By modeling their brands’ mission, vision, and values, can help trigger employee buy-in and motivate employees to engage on social channels. In a 2012 survey, 82% of respondents say they are more likely to trust a brand whose executives are engaged in social media and 78% said they were more likely to work for a company whose leadership was socially active.
